About me
Alexandra Blackman
One question has been at the heart of my work for many years: what is really happening here?
I am interested in what moves people, in what develops between them, and in how experience, leadership, collaboration and the organisational context interact.
Seeing organisations from different perspectives
Throughout my career, I have come to know organisations from different positions. I worked in recruitment and selection, managed a large department in financial services, and worked as a project leader and internal adviser.
Over time, my work became increasingly focused on supporting and advising leaders, teams and organisations.
For many years, I worked with directors and senior managers in leadership development programmes, and with leaders, teams and employees on areas including leadership, communication, collaboration and personal development. In my own practice, I now work primarily on more complex questions in which leadership, collaboration and organisational development are closely interconnected.
This breadth of experience helps me see situations from different perspectives.
I understand the reality of those who lead, as well as that of people who experience the same leadership from a different position. I can stay close to an individual’s experience while also seeing what is happening at team and organisational level.
At the same time, I actively bring in what I see. I articulate what I observe, offer my interpretation and explain how I understand what may be happening. I am direct when that is needed.
My way of working
My way of working has continued to deepen over the years. Not into a single method or model, but into an ability to observe carefully, stay with what presents itself, and connect different experiences and layers in ways that allow what is really going on to become visible.
People often find that there is space in our conversations to explore what is really going on. I listen carefully and without rushing to judgement.
I work with a deep trust in people’s capacity to understand, learn and develop. Not by moving past what is difficult, but by taking it seriously and exploring from there what may become possible.
Experience
My experience includes:
- strategic advice and thought partnership with boards, executives and senior management
- leadership development and individual support
- team development and collaboration
- organisational development and organisational questions
- analysis and interpretation of organisational and collaboration dynamics
- supporting change and decision-making
- developing and facilitating leadership programmes, training and learning programmes
I work across sectors, directly with organisations.
An initial conversation
If you would like to explore whether my way of working fits a question arising within your organisation, team or leadership, we can begin with an initial conversation.
We can begin with what is there now and explore from there what is needed.
The question does not need to be fully developed before we speak.
